A Marttiini knife is a part of the Finnish lifestyle and is mostly used for traditional purposes: as a skilled carver's joinery tool, or a general tool in a hiker's backpack.

Cutting branches, brushwood and small trees has always been the task of a Marttiini knife.

Finnish Curly birch

The traditional handle material of Finnish knives is curly birch. This is a perfect material for a knife handle, because it is both durable and beautiful.

Carbinox T508

Carbinox T508 steel combines the best characteristics of carbon and chrome steel: toughness, easiness of honing and extreme durability. The carbon content of the steel is 0.5%, the chrome content is 8% and its hardness is 56-57 HRC. The steel is not classified as stainless, but its resistance to corrosion is considerably higher than that of traditional carbon steel. In order to maintain Carbinox T508 it is sufficient to clean the blade carefully and dry it after use. However we also recommend the occasional treatment of the blade with unsalted oil.
