Accessibility statement

This is the accessibility statement for Marttiini Oy's online store (https://www.marttiini.fi/). This accessibility statement was published on June 28, 2025, and updated on January 20, 2026.

Marttiini Oy strives to ensure equal digital accessibility for all. We are constantly improving the user experience and comply with the Act on the Provision of Digital Services (306/2019). We strive to implement the criteria set out in the WCAG 2.1 guidelines at levels A and AA.

The description of the website's accessibility is based on our company's own assessment and that of an external expert organization.

The digital service meets most of the accessibility requirements.

Perceivable

Image captions (alt text)

Individual images may be missing text equivalents (alt text), or their text equivalents may not adequately describe the content of the image. For example, on the Marttiini's story subpages.

On the product pages, the alt texts for the images in the product gallery are repeated in other images. (1.1.1 Non-textual content.)

Text Contrast

The "Design your dream knife" element on the Custom Shop page does not fully meet the 4.5:1 or 3:1 contrast requirements for text. (1.4.3 Contrast (Minimum))

Manageable

Keyboard

The cookie banner, shopping cart modal, and the "Design your dream knife" element on the Custom Shop page are not fully accessible using only a keyboard. (2.1.1 Keyboard)

The focus order has some minor flaws

On the product page, the image area on the left is after the text area containing the Add to cart button in keyboard order. There is therefore a discrepancy between the visual and programmatic structure on this page, but it does not affect the meaning of the page. (2.4.3 Focus order)

The purpose of some links may be unclear to the user

The site may contain links whose purpose may be unclear to the user. (2.4.4 Purpose of the link (in context))

Focus visibility

The language selection in the header does not currently display focus indicators. The language selection options are accessed using the space bar and the up and down arrow keys. (2.4.7 Focus visibility)

Reliability

Some functions have deficiencies in the status messages.

For some functions, the status information to be reported to assistive device or assistive software users is missing or incomplete. For example The shopping cart notification does not automatically focus on the keyboard after a product has been added to the shopping cart, and users of screen reader software do not receive real-time feedback on the number of products in the shopping cart.
